Customs clearance, duty & VAT

We clear the vehicle through UK customs, pay import duty and VAT on your behalf and submit the NOVA declaration to HMRC.

When the vehicle arrives in the UK it must be declared to customs. Import duty (currently 10% for cars) and VAT at 20% are calculated on the landed value and paid to HMRC before the car can be released. We handle the customs entry, pay the charges and give you the itemised receipts.

Within 14 days of arrival the vehicle is notified to HMRC using the NOVA (Notification of Vehicle Arrivals) service — without a NOVA reference the DVLA cannot register the car. We do this for every vehicle we import.
